Being a Smart New Mum: Request Free Diaper and Milk Formula Samples! (2021)


I happen to work from home and have very little interaction with my colleagues on a day-to-day basis. 

Thankfully, I had a bunch of friends who were new mums as well who gave me some valuable advice - one of which is requesting free diaper and milk samples. 

Thought I should help out other new mums like me who might also be looking for free samples online. Rather than going to each brand you know one by one, I've grouped them all up in one convenient place... and yes, you're very welcome :) P/S: It's actually for my future use too.


Note that I'm actually from Malaysia so these brands might be more relevant to my countryfolk but you can easily do a quick survey of what brands are available at the mall and then google for free sample for each of the brand. It might be a bit tedious but for the free samples, I'd say it's worth it :)

Right, let's get to it! 


Free Diaper Samples

- I'd recommend getting the newborn (NB) or the small (S) sizes if you're expecting (like me) since that's the time when babies use quite a lot of diapers... unless you plan on using a "lampin" which I don't :P

- These samples are just the perfect size to pack into your hospital bag prior to childbirth.

- Note that many of these free diaper sample requests take a while to be delivered to you so you might want to start requesting before your due date... like maybe 3 months before. 


1. Drypers

Details:
  • Only one sample request per baby per household is allowed with a total of 4 sample requests over a 2-year period.
  • Additional sample requests from same household for the same baby within 3 months will not be entertained.
  • Sample requests for the same baby using multiple addresses will not be entertained.
  • Valid for members with Malaysian postal addresses only.
  • Incomplete entries will not be processed.
  • Please give us 4-6 weeks for delivery.

**Note that they seem to have a points-based system to reward their loyal customers. You can redeem the unique code on the Dryper diaper packs you buy to earn points.

2. Mamypoko


Details:
  • Limited to one (1) MamyPoko sample pack per valid postal address, repeated request only allowed after a waiting period of 6 months.
  • Delivery of samples requested takes a duration of between 4-6 weeks.
  • Sample requests are for legal residents of Malaysia with a valid postal address.
  • Sample requests with incomplete personal details will not be entertained.

3. Diapex

Details: 
  • Only 2pc sample pack will be sent per child per house. Repeated the address will not be entertained.
  • Repeated requests from the same household for the same child are allowed only after a waiting period of 6 months.
  • Please allow up to 2 months for delivery.
  • A valid MyKad number is compulsory for proceeding with sample requests.
  • Sample requests are valid for Malaysian resident only.
  • Sample requests with incomplete personal details will not be entertained.

4. Huggies

Note that I'm having trouble with the sign-up process on the site. The website seems rather glitchy. You might have better luck than I though. GL!

Update:
So a Facebook ad for Huggies free sample popped up so I registered via Facebook instead. It worked out in the end I guess :)

5. Merries (Kao)

Details: 
  • Free sample for Merries Tape diapers is available in sizes NBx2s, Sx2s only.
  • Request of tape sample is limited to one(1) per household .
  • Please allow 4-5 weeks for delivery of the samples.
  • Repeated entries for the same diaper type will be disregarded.
  • Entries with incomplete addresses will be invalid.

6. Softlove

I've heard that you can request for a free Softlove diaper sample by reaching out to their Facebook page. Will update this post once I've successfully gotten a reply from them.

7. Genki

They don't seem to provide free diaper samples but I've reached out to them on Facebook to ask about it. Will update this post if I get a response.

They replied and confirmed that their sample program has been halted. So no free diaper samples from them.

Free Baby Milk Formula/Infant Formula/Infant Cereal Samples and Free Baby Wipe Samples

Like me, I'm sure some of you plan on breastfeeding the baby when it's born but it's always good to have some baby milk formula as backup just in case. 

Because it's a "just in case" situation, it's probably not that wise to buy milk powder in bulk so you can rely on these free milk samples instead! 

Note that formula isn't recommended for babies below 6 months of age and that breastmilk is best, but of course, if you can't express enough breastmilk or have difficulty, then formula is a solid backup.

In case you're like me and has a low tolerance for certain milk... and yes, I have a mild lactose intolerance.

Week 36 - Baby dropped! The lightening

I've read plenty of articles about this phenomenon called "baby dropping" or "the lightening" but I've never experienced it until early morning today. Wok up as usual early dawn for my hourly (or so) pee and I noticed a few very obvious things 1. My bladder is actually full for once (can fill more pee before urging me to go to the loo) 2. The almost constant pain I feel in my lower back when lying down is just magically gone! 3. I can definitely breathe a lot deeper and better than before! 4. Week 20 - Nauseous while Pregnant? Sucking on an Ice Cube Really Helps!

I've tried so many different stuff to quell the nauseous feeling and I finally (on my 5th month :/) found a solution - sucking on an ice cube.  The cold seems to dispel the nausea pretty effectively. Though once the ice's melted, the nausea may sometimes come back. If it does, pop another ice cube into your mouth and try again. Most of the time, 2-3 cubes will completely dispel the nausea for me.  Not to mention, if you're like me and have very sensitive teeth, I still managed to place the ice cube on my tongue and use the roof of my mouth to hold it there as it melts. That way, the ice won't touch any of my teeth and I won't get that sharp pain feeling that I usually get when I eat anything cold and chilly. Note that I also use the more expensive "toothpaste for sensitive teeth" which is supposed to help dampen that sharp pain feeling (or alleviate it altogether if you're lucky) so that might have helped too. Week 28 - Follow-up plus Scan

Welp, the doctor can't be sure of the gender due to the baby's position but she couldn't see any male genitalia so she reckons the baby's a "she" :) That said, during the scan and the subsequent measurements, it seems like the baby has a much smaller than (even lower) average head circumference, which could mean some form of defect, but oddly enough, the baby's weight (in spite of my weight not increasing) is still on track.  So I think it's likely it's an incorrect measurement due to the position of the baby. The doc probably thinks so too and scheduled another scan after 2 weeks. Had to do the glucose test again tomorrow - yuck! - but well, gotta do what you gotta do!
