Week 36 - Baby dropped! The lightening

Image
I've read plenty of articles about this phenomenon called "baby dropping" or "the lightening" but I've never experienced it until early morning today. Wok up as usual early dawn for my hourly (or so) pee and I noticed a few very obvious things 1. My bladder is actually full for once (can fill more pee before urging me to go to the loo) 2. The almost constant pain I feel in my lower back when lying down is just magically gone! 3. I can definitely breathe a lot deeper and better than before! 4. I can actually lie on my back and not feel aches. 5. The pain in my muscles/joints in between my thighs and my pelvis are mostly gone as well!  6. And of course, once it's daylight, I've noticed that my tummy's shape is exactly like the picture above. Can't say that I'm not ecstatic about this, not because I think the baby's due in 2 weeks to 4 weeks' time (according to said articles), but because I feel more like myself now. Still getting pa...

Week 34 - Feeling like Crap Most of the Time

Image
The baby's growing real fast and it's super active, but I kept getting these constant and prolonged fatigue spells that just made me feel like total crap. I don't feel like doing anything... even sleep... everything seems to ache, especially my ribs, the compressed nerve in my left butt, and lower back, and I seem to have brain fog... Breathing is a chore and every little physical exertion made me pant like a dog. The womb's pushing right up my rib cage right now and I suspect the topmost part is actually at my breast level, so no wonder I feel breathless most of the time... and no, it's not COVID. There are lots of vaginal discharge too and the on-off heatwave doesn't seem to help a whole lot either. Sigh, and there are so much stuff to do, what with the house move, renovation, lawyer stuff, and extending our rental...  Work has been stressful too. I can't wait to just disappear for my maternity leave lol.

Week 32 - It's a GIRL!

Image
Nothing much to say here except that we decided to splurge and get a 3D scan at a private clinic. It's not particularly expensive either - just around RM100. It includes a printed photo of the baby's face in 3D scan, a scan report, and a CD filled with short clips and extra pictures. So, yeah, the baby's called Zhi Ning :)

Week 31 - Still no major weight gain?

Image
My weight has been fluctuating between 71 and 73 kg, mostly around 71 and 72kgs really, and I'm guessing that's just water retention. Third trimester is supposed to be the time of rapid growth for the baby and although I do notice that my belly's getting heavier and bigger, my weight doesn't seem to be increasing at all. It's just super weird. And it's not like I'm not eating enough - I'm snacking a lot more in fact, usually on fruits and nuts, but on the occasional (ahem) unhealthy snacks... I'm crazy over kerepek pisang these days.  I mean yeah, I started off being overweight - right in the middle of the "overweight" bar in fact! - but since then, I've LOST net weight rather than gaining any.  I did start eating a bit healthily I guess, cutting down on fast foods and eating more normal dabao foods like economy rice, but still! It's just odd.  That being said, I've also noticed that my thighs are as fat-packed as ever and my ol...

Week 28 - Caught the Bacterial Stomach Flu while preganant... ouch!

Image
Sigh, I really have the worse luck... Due to having to work OT a bit on Wednesday night, my hubby went ahead and dabao some economy rice for me. He bought the rice from the econ rice stall that I didn't like :/ That said, he bought chicken feet, pig's liver, and long beans.  Anyone who's preggo will tell you that's a terrible combo, mainly because 1. chicken feet is a fav food for flies to stand on; 2. there's a chance that the pork liver isn't cooked well-through; and 3. even if they are well-cooked, pregnant people shouldn't eat so much pig liver (or any other animal's livers). But, being the "unwasteful" person I am, I finished everything. To be honest, I was ravishing anyway.  Lo and behold... the very next day at around 2 am plus, I woke up to intense abdominal pains and had my first (of many) diarrhea.  The whole night was a nightmare for me since I literally had to wake up every 30 mins or so just to rush to the toilet after a bout of in...

Week 28 - Follow-up plus Scan

Image
Welp, the doctor can't be sure of the gender due to the baby's position but she couldn't see any male genitalia so she reckons the baby's a "she" :) That said, during the scan and the subsequent measurements, it seems like the baby has a much smaller than (even lower) average head circumference, which could mean some form of defect, but oddly enough, the baby's weight (in spite of my weight not increasing) is still on track.  So I think it's likely it's an incorrect measurement due to the position of the baby. The doc probably thinks so too and scheduled another scan after 2 weeks. Had to do the glucose test again tomorrow - yuck! - but well, gotta do what you gotta do!

Week 27 - Hunger Pangs!

Image
Wowzers!  I'm just a few days into my third trimester (week 27) and I'm starting to get hunger pangs. It's incredibly weird since it's not particularly severe - like being hungry 30 mins after eating economy rice or anything like that - but I do get really hungry maybe 3 hours after?  I've noticed that I'm eating random stuff a lot more often like the banana cake I bought. Usually it'll last me days, but now, I'm left with only 2 pieces and it has only been 2 days since I bought it.  I also can't help but to snack on... well actual junk food. I've been really good and avoiding too much junk food throughout my second trimester and now that I'm getting hunger pangs, I often find myself more inclined to grab something savory like chips or sweet like ice cream or soda. Maybe I should steam edamame more often just so I'd have some actual healthy snacks to snack on. Can't wait for the doc's appointment next Monday though! Might be the t...
