Week 12 - A Bean-like Fetus

Image
The doctor did another scan and this time we could see the fetus... thank goodness! It's small like a bean though... so cute <3 Nothing much to say today except the relief that the baby's there and growing. It's not a blighted ovum after all... touchwood!

Week 9 - An empty sac

Image
Now that I've gone to the clinic and did my first checkup, I can say that I understand why some people waited until the first trimester is gone and over with before announcing the good news to friends and family.  I didn't think about it much yesterday - was just joyful that the clinic further confirmed that I was indeed pregnant - and the early ultrasound scan showed a small gestational sac. However, I had irregular periods and if it was really week 7/8, we should be able to see the fetus by now... but we didn't. So, either it's much earlier than expected... a quick Google search indicates that I might still in Week 5... or that - horror! - the sac might be empty. Didn't know about this until today but apparently, there's such a thing called "blighted ovum". What it means is that the mother (me) would experience all the symptoms of a successful pregnancy but only the sac which functions to sustain the baby would grow but the fetus itself didn't. U...

Week 9 - Some tips to deal with pregnancy nausea

Image
These are probably some common sense advice but I have a few tips that I'm currently using to avoid that nauseous feeling that I now sometimes get. Note that these are all personal advice based on personal experiences, and you should know by now that each pregnancy is different. Try these tips out but don't rag on me if they don't work for you, alright? Now that we've got all of that out of the way... 1. Sleeping while in a semi-seated position I'm not sure if you do this but when I have a flu with runny nose in the past, I would sleep in an elevated position, which means instead of 1 pillow to lay on, I'll prop myself up with another pillow. It's a pretty comfortable way to sleep I'd say and for some reason, it helps to keep the nausea at bay.  2. Always carry around a big enough* plastic bag for emergencies At one point, I was playing a game with my headset on and everything, and I suddenly felt that overwhelming sense of nausea which unfortunately r...

Week 8 - Vicks Vaporub helps with the nauseous feeling

Image
Haven't had an upchuck yet - hope I'll never do - and I felt a lot better last night - last morning though, that was the worse in the entire week. Managed to eat a whole lot more than I could for the previous days.  By the way, I've found that surprisingly Vicks - or to be more specific, inhaling the vapours of Vicks really helps to keep down whatever I've managed to eat. It doesn't help with the dizziness part - I'll recommend using medicated oil (a mix of eucalyptus oil, menthol, camphor, and spike lavender oil) instead - but it helps me combat that incessant nausea feeling that almost always come with the dizziness... hence, me referring to this combo symptoms as "motion sickness". Oh, and only 3 more days to go to my first doctor's appointment! Can't wait to start my daily regime of supplements... If you can't tell, I'm trying to be sarcastic here 😜 P/S: Not a sponsored article or anything. Just wanted to share something that works...
