Week 24 - Tetanus Shot + 6th month update

Just had my compulsory tetanus shot today - the first dose at least - and boy! Am I feeling the side effects hard!

Most people won't experience any of the symptoms besides the initial pain at the injection site, but "lucky" for me, I happened to be that "one" out of four people :/

So for starters, I started feeling dog-tired after around an hour since the injection... and I mean like reeaaalllyy dog-tired. I can hardly walk straight and my brain's a fog. My body aches a bit here and there too. I feel like I can just flop down on my bed and instantly hit the night's out button.

Not to mention, I started having some dizziness and its trusty companion, slight nausea (yet again). It comes and goes though so this might just be the pregnancy talking and not the tetanus shot I've just taken.

Thankfully though, I'm not experiencing any of the more moderate or severe symptoms like swelling.

A quick update as well, the baby seems to be doing fine. I've been feeling it move about and kick at around week 22-23 and it's usually more prominent just when I am about to go to sleep.

However, my weight hasn't been increasing for the past few months now and that's worrying me a little. Still, as long as the baby is growing healthily, I don't really mind. It's like a free weight loss for me anyway... since you know... the baby is growing at around 100g per week up until week 24 and my over weight is not increasing... the whole "2+2" (putting two and two together).

That said, I think I should start seeing a notable weight increase from week 25 onwards where the baby should have a growth spurt - it's going to weigh 1kg soon! Whew! My poor back.

I still don't know the gender of the baby but I'm hoping that during the week 28th scan, the doctor would be kind enough to help me check... for free :P

Oh and not sure if I've mentioned this but my appetite returned at around the mid of month #4... slowly but surely, and now, I can eat like I used to. I still have some aversion to certain smells - like fish - but I can eat them no problem... just gag them down lol.

Though, I've noticed that my stomach seems to have decreased in size, hence, I can't eat a whole lot - think buffet-style portions - but for normal meals, I still can finish my food... for now...

If the baby gets any bigger, I might need to start portioning my meals out so that I can fit them into my tummy, and the baby and I get the nutrients we need.

Right, that's it for now I guess. Til I write again!

Addendum: That incredibly-tired feeling I had? Well, it just vanished after 5 hours or so :)

Addendum 2: The next day, my injection site became slightly swollen (feels like there's a small lump underneath the skin) and a small reddish, rash-like patch appeared, and it itches. The injection site feels painful too when pressed like when I'm sleeping on my side.

Addendum 3: All the side effects of the injection are gone after approx 1 week or so. I didn't really keep track due to being busy scouring for deals on baby stuff :P
